| During 1950 after many years of research, a dedicated biochemist by the name of Ernest T. Krebs,Jr., isolated a new vitamin that he numbered B17 and which he called "Laetrile." As the years rolled by thousands of people became convinced that Krebs had finally found the complete control for all cancers, an opinion that even more hold today. In fact, each year thousands of people travel to Mexico to receive vitamin B17 (Laetrile) therapy. Vitamin B17, commonly known as Amygdalin or Laetrile, is a natural substance that can be found in a variety of vegetables. The greatest concentration is found in the seeds of rosaceous fruits, such as apricots and other bitter nuts. There are many seeds, cereals and vegetables that contain minimal quantities of Vitamin B17 and form a part of our daily diet. According to Dr. Krebs' theory, all cancer cells have the same characteristics. These cells contain an enzyme called Beta-glucosidase, also known as the unlocking enzyme. When Vitamin B17 comes in contact with this enzyme, (which is found only in the cancer cell) it is broken down into various molecules, one of which is hydrogen cyanide (HCN). This cyanide radical is then released inside the malignant cell and, the theory goes, causes its destruction.
